Driver speeding in residential neighborhood kills woman outside her home
July 3, 2009 5:30 am BusinessI recently read a report of a pedestrian accident in which a driver with a history of 7 DUIs was driving at a speed that exceeded 50 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood. At that speed he tried to pass a car traveling in front of him when he lost control of his SUV. He hit a power pole and went into a roll hitting a woman who was gardening with her husband in front of her home. She was a wife and a mother. She died from her injuries. The man has been sentenced to 1-15 years in prison. This was the maximum sentenced allowable by the law of the state where the accident occurred.
