I currently rent a 1-bedroom Boulder Colorado apartment, but not because it is my first choice. The reason I am actually renting is because my ex-boyfriend and I had purchased a home toghether, and our relationship did not work out and we split. My ex is still living in the home and plans to live in it in the future, but he is unable to refinance the home and put it in his name. With my name still on the mortgage, I am unable to buy a home by myself due to my credit being tied up. It is very frustrating, and there is nothing I can do to speed up the refinance process. I think renting is not such a bad deal, because a renter does not have to cover any cost for maintaining a home or paying property taxes, which is a big advantage. However, having a large dog in a small apartment like me, is not ideal. Noisy neighbors are also a disadvantage, but for the time being I will have to live with it.
