Back when my sons were being born, I loved everything about the experience except spending time in the hospital.  Like most people, What got me through those hospitalizations were the friendly, helpful nurses.  They often spent time talking to me when they weren’t busy. One night I asked my caregiver what she thought drew people to registered nursing jobs and she said that, for her, it was making people feel happier.  She also enjoyed the babies and sending new Mom’s home prepared to care for their infants.  Over the years I’ve seen that same cheerful dedication when my parents and relatives have been in hospitals and nurses have become some of my favorite people.
