Years and years ago, my father’s younger brother moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to go to work at the iron mill.  He’d studied engineering for a little while at North Carolina State and he thought that he’d be able to get a good job there, even though he hadn’t gotten a degree.  Well, we didn’t have a lot of contact with him after he moved but he never lost touch with us.  Well, when dad died last year, I tried to let him know and the number was disconnected. So, I’m heading to Birmingham, to check Alabama public records to see what I can find about Uncle Steve.
